What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a series of clear, removable aligners that gradually reposition the teeth. Dr. Elmore will scan your teeth and upload the image with our Invisalign software. Then, he will create a step-by-step plan for aligning your teeth with Invisalign. You will receive a set of custom, clear aligners to wear. You will NOT have metal showing in your mouth. Invisalign looks nothing like traditional wire-and-bracket braces, though it works effectively. You will simply wear the aligners for the specified amount of time, and then “graduate” to the next set of aligners. Visit us periodically, so Dr. Elmore can assure treatment is going as planned.
How long will it take?
Treatment time depends on a variety of factors including your unique dentition and how often you wear the aligners. For best results, they should only be taken out to eat, drink, brush, and floss. Typically, treatment with Invisalign takes about 12 to 18 months, which is about half the time of traditional braces.
Is Invisalign right for me?
If you’re an adult over the age of 15, then you’re probably a candidate for Invisalign. Dr. Elmore will be able to tell you if it will work in your case during your orthodontic consultation. Invisalign can correct a variety of dental issues, including overcrowding, wide spacing, and bite problems. If you're ineligible for Invisalign, Dr. Elmore offers traditional braces as well.
